Whenever Supreme and Nike come together for a collab, things tend to get a little crazy. It's a special occasion in the street culture world: the kind that only happens once per Supreme SZN, and no matter if it's an SB, an Air Max or a Foamposite, their collaborative effort is bound to dominate conversations, break necks, and stretch wallets to their utmost limits.
This season, Supreme and Nike came together to create three brand-new colorways of one of Nike's most famous basketball shoes: the Air More Uptempo, which originally released in 1996. Scottie Pippen wore a special Team USA colorway in the '96 Olympics, cementing the shoe's legendary status ... and it's enjoyed a comeback of sorts in the last year, with OG colorways like the black/white and white/red making some serious noise in the sneaker scene, even more so after the aforementioned collab was announced.
The Uptempo is a glorious middle finger to the sleek running-inspired silhouettes that are all the rage currently as they're extremely large, chunky and loud: the type of shoe that stands out from your fit and demands attention. The Supreme collaboration sees the classic "AIR" branding on the side replaced with "SUP" on the left shoe and "EME" on the right shoe, while both heels are adorned with the connecting "R". They're quintessential Supreme: in-your-face and head-turning (just like the Uptempo), but with impeccable design and attention to detail.
They'll be available in three different colors: a simple, clean monochromatic black, a red/white that's the reverse of the classic white/red color way, and a bright gold with red and white accents. It's too early to tell just yet, but we're willing to bet that the gold will be the most highly sought after of the three, as similar to last year's snakeskin Air Max 98's, they're the most unique.
There's no in-store release scheduled for these at any of Supreme's retail locations (you already know it would be far too crazy), but they'll be releasing online this Thursday at 11AM EST in the US and Europe, and will then be available online in Japan Saturday the 29th.
Check out images of all 3 colorways below, and get ready for Thursday ... you'll need to be fast (and have a damn good internet connection) if you want to add a pair of these beauties to your collection.
