It's been a crazy season for Supreme collabs. From Comme Des Garcons to the Geto Boys, from Doc Martins to Nike, there's been something for everyone. However, the most unique collaborative effort of Supreme's S/S '17 season arrives this Thursday, as the brand has teamed up with legendary Dutch graphic artist M.C. Escher (no, he's not a rapper, although his name may indicate otherwise) for a capsule collection of apparel. Didn't think you'd be getting an art lesson today, did you?
Even if you're not familiar with his name, there's a good chance you've seen Escher's work before. Impossible objects, optical illusions, hyperbolic geometry and much more crazy mathematical inspiration is abundant in his work, and his mind-bending illustrations have been referenced in everything from album covers to tv shows and much more. His mathematically-inspired art is truly unique, and holds a special place in popular culture, even though it never truly caught on with art critics. Thankfully there's no such thing as "art critics" in streetwear.
And we've got to say: his art looks absolutely great on clothes too. The collection features a spring-ready lightweight trench coat, a summer-essential baseball jersey, a hoodie, long and short-sleeve tees, shorts and a cap, all featuring Escher's unique designs plastered all over. We haven't seen anything quite like this from Supreme before ... but Escher's designs fit perfectly with the brand's aesthetic: they're at once head-turning, yet still intricate and beautiful.
Be ready this Thursday at 10 AM CST ... this collab is sure to move quickly. Until then, check out the images of the collection below, and head to the Supreme section on our website to check out what kind of heat we've got in stock right now.
